Star Trek TNG (& later) Ambient Ship Noise for 24 hours

by Meg on December 16, 2011

Nothing sounds quite like your Galaxy class star ship home away from home, like the quiet hum of the Enterprise NCC 1701-D engines.  Well, maybe a few LCARS beeps and Majel Barrett-Roddenberry (the voice of the ship’s computer/Deanna Troi’s Mother/Gene Roddenberry’s wife) talking to you.  I suppose you could also craft a black velvet rotating wall, with sequins sewn in, to help give your apartment that space look when you gaze out your Earth windows.  Come to think of it, you might want to then modify your Earth dwelling’s doors to “woosh” open, every time you enter.  You should probably also alter all of your alert and ring tones on your phone to be in line with Federation protocol.  For now, let’s just start with the ambient noise.

Crsyknife007 made a 1.5 hour loop of the TNG ambient noise, which he then followed up with a 24 hour loop.  I played this baby via my Apple TV on the better speakers in my apartment.  I can’t say my dog Admiral Ackbar was too happy, although I’m not sure if it was the tone he was hearing or me betraying his fandom.
