I’m back, but transmuted.

Hello! Hi! How’s it going?

(For all two of you who remember my original site, thanks for being here again, hope you are well!)

The rumblings in my head of picking up girlhack.com once again have been banging around a lot more the last year or so. I felt in many ways when I stopped working on the site that I was a failure. I had amassed a few writers to join me, I had the sparkle of some early success on YouTube, and I even had a summer intern program. But alas, I didn’t launch myself into some new persona online that generated my income to start a fabulous life as a proto-influencer. I just knew I had tried, and for reasons I couldn’t explain then, I was unable to tie together all of the strings I was holding.

I rationalized quitting by telling myself I was going to live what I preached in my new job: being geeky and girly. It felt important to go back to the tech world (not just for money… but also for money) and represent the merging of the two paradigms I strived to project with this site long ago. And oh boy, was the justification (kind lie?) I told myself both more true than I originally thought, but also met with no shortage of obstacles.

My goals for coming back are different now. Before, with being girlhack online, I sought to become a cool kid in those late Web 2.0 to early App days. Someone who was a real go to for my niche of geeky and girly stuff. Now, I just want to learn, express, create, and mostly let my ADHD freak flag run free. This is why I will likely spin up megcampbell.com again too, but for like, professional stuff *hand wavy gestures*

A beloved retired doctor of mine once told me creation was vital to my overall wellbeing and I always needed to have an outlet to be creative. For years, work got the best of it and a lot of life I had to live through (she also prescribed my divorce… man I should reach out to her).

I painfully understand the content creator treadmill and have no desire to get back into that. I have no illusions of lots of traffic. I might make accompanying shorts/reels/tiktoks if I’m moved to. I’ll do voice recordings of posts, but not for podcast reasons, more for those who would rather just listen. Otherwise, I just hope a post helps someone solve something, makes someone feel seen, or makes someone go “oh neat!” in their head.

So here I am. Rough drafts on about 10 different topics. No schedule of when to post. No niche persona to stick to. Just my geriatric millennial butt returning to the “slow internet.”
